Puerto Vallarta 11/13/15

The sun is now setting over the land (not the sea). A nice last sunset for us, as we leave for home in the morning.

Bar La Playa on Madera near Vista del Sol was recommended to us for their jalapena margaritas. I asked for the spicy and my lips were burning.

The folkloric dancing was taking place next door at Lazaro Cardenas Parque. We love watching these talented dancers portray the history of Mexico. There are dancers from many different regions in gorgeous costumes. My pictures do not do it justice.

Luckily, we ran into Geoff and Gail for a last goodbye.

Margarita Grill was our dining choice tonight. I wanted to try the molcajete, but since we are leaving tomorrow, I have no use for leftovers, so I will save that for another trip. I love the molcajete at Gaby's, so it will be nice to compare. We had the table side guacamole and we shared the tacos pibil. We first had pibil in Belize, where they actually cook the pibil underground. Don't think they do that in PV, but it was very tasty.

We hit Andales for one dance. Very crowded with a wedding party we heard.

My mission for the night was to locate Manuel of Trio Veracruz (our favorite mariachi group for many years). A gal on Tripadvisor really wants them to sing at her wedding in early December, but she could not connect with them via phone. She PM'd me her information, date and wish. I copied it down and read it to Manuel with my little flashlight. He called the Hyatt and I spoke with the concierge there, giving her Tiana's information and wish to have Veracruz play at their wedding. I sure hope that it all works out. And Veracruz played us a song gratis for our efforts. Love them! Good luck. Tiana!

Puerto Vallarta Thursday, 11/12/15

A great beach day at Lindo Mar today. Some reading, some snorkeling, a cerveza. Perfecto!

Tonight Casa Karma next door was hopping with activity. All week a group of young kids have been staying there (and it is $$$$). Turns out that the wedding was tonight. Being the furthest south unit in Lindo Mar, we had a great view. Gorgeous peach colors. We are enjoying their (loud) music right now. All good. A beautiful sunset wedding with good friends.

Puerto Vallarta Wednesday, 11/11/15

Dinner tonight was at Bravo's with our Chiliwack, Canada friends Geoff, Gail, Sharon and Shayne. We have been meeting up with this crew for many years, being introduced by our good Lindo Mar friends, Geoff and Linda, who owned the week of Cherry Creek School District's Fall Break when we always headed to PV. (Missing you two!)

Across the way we spotted current Lindo Mar friends, Carlos & Natalie. They also love Bravos!

On the way to the beach, we passed a taco stand, La Hormiga Feliz, that looked amazing! Next visit I want to give it a try. So many fresh ingredients and the smell...yummy!

We ran into our Mariachi favorites, Veracruz, so we had a glass of wine at La Palapa and enjoyed listening to a few songs.

I've grown to like the new pier. Has taken me several years.

Puerto Vallarta Tuesday, 11/10/15

Beach day with Fish and Yo Yo. Fish is an old friend from Denver who lives in PV in the winters and Denver in the summers. Great life! We got a tour of their very nice El Dorado condo just a few short steps to the beach! We sat at Las Carretas and ran into Geoff, Gail and Sharon next door at Fidencios. Nice surprise. We will be seeing them for dinner tomorrow night.

 Rick and I had a nice Happy Hour with a pretty sunset. Leftovers for dinner tonight. Relaxing.

Puerto Vallarta ~ Casa Kimberly

Last night we had the pleasure of dining in the brand new Casa Kimberley, which has been renovated by the owner of Hacienda San Angel, another stellar property.

Long ago Richard Burton bought the casa for Liz Taylor when he was filming Night of the Iguana and they were having an affair. He also bought the casa across the street for himself and built a pink bridge to connect the two homes. Her house was bigger and more charming, but his smaller home had a nice pool. The pink bridge has been called Lovers' Bridge, and it is basically the only thing that remains of the two original structures. The new Casa Kimberley is amazingly gorgeous. When you enter Elizabeth's home, you feel as if you are stepping into an Italian villa. It is open with big columns and lots of beautiful natural stone tile. We had a glass of wine and enjoyed the ambiance before dinner.

A surprise for us was that the very best mariachi band in town, La Joya de Mexico, appeared and began singing. Sandy, they sang Malaguena Solerosa for us and we thought of you and your favorite song!

We had a very good dinner on a Cupocity coupon (like Groupon). We would not have been able to afford the meal otherwise. Quite a generous deal since they just opened. We sat with some Lindo Mar folks for the second set. Rick even danced with me and his ankle held up! 

We walked across Lovers' Bridge to Burton's house. Very serene and peaceful. Wonderful evening!
