April 9 - 13, 2019 Barbados

Mistle Cove is right in St Lawrence Gap. Lots to see and do.

Richard dropped us off in Bridgetown. We had lunch and a Bank's Beer on the harbor.

Richard recommended this restaurant on the water.

For fun we took the bus back to our condo.

We went to Oisten's Friday Fish Fry. This is a famous and popular event for locals and tourists n Barbados.

It was raining, but we found a semi-dry table.

We headed home after an amazing vacation on a catamaran in the Grenadine Islands and then on land on Barbados.

Monday, April 8, 2019 On to Barbados

After our breakfast at the hotel, we took a walk into town to find Rick a baseball cap. I was looking for the sailboat necklaces or maybe Willy himself. We ran into Carlton, our taxi driver, and he called Willy for me, but Willy never surfaced. Guess we will need to return for a necklace.

We packed up, Said our good byes to the hotel staff and also to little Chip, the black and white puppy who lives on the property. Carlton took us to the airport where we joined the club of people who were inconvenienced a second time by SVG Air. In the end, we landed in Barbados only 15 minutes late, took a cab to Mistle Cove condos in St. Lawrence Gap where we were met by Carolina with the keys to our home for five days.

After showing us through the beautiful two bedroom ocean front condo, Carolina drove us to Massy, the grocery store. She had explained how to catch a bus and then showed us the stop closest to us. We bought our breakfast, lunch and snack items plus some wine and took the Massy shuttle back to Mistle Cove.

We are wowed by our condo. It is decorated in a beachy way with turquoise and coral hues. Our large balcony overlooks the ocean, a small private beach and a little pool with lots of loungers. This looks like the perfect place to relax and we can’t wait to explore a little tomorrow.

Sunday, April 7, 2019 Bequia

We wandered over to the restaurant for our complimentary breakfast. We both ordered the Plantation Breakfast with potatoes and beans. The potatoes had a sweet mango sauce on them, which was different but good and the beans were pork and beans. Not expected. The restaurant sits near the beach, so it was a very peaceful meal. Yesterday this hotel was very crowded, but today, Sunday, there are not too many folks here. We like that.

Rick was feeling under the weather, so after breakfast he went to the room and I walked over to Princess Margaret Beach. The pathway consists of wooden steps, a path up the mountain through trees, more wooden steps down and then concrete steps down to the beach. Jacks Beach Bar is a nice restaurant at the north end of the beach. As you walk further south, it becomes more folksy with little shacks set up to seek drinks and trinkets. The beach reminds me of the Costa Rican beaches with tress growing towards the sand. I looked for Willy, as Sandy and I both wanted to buy small whalebone sailboat necklaces. Willy had come to Princess Margaret Beach the day before and Kathy had picked up my earrings for me that he needed a piece for. But, not today.

I checked in on Rick and the took my Kindle to read in the hammock by the pool. So relaxing. I love hammocks.

That night we shared a bottle of wine that Captain AJ had given us. Our hotel had a band that night, so we sat on our balcony and listened for a bit. We then headed down the walkway to The Fig Tree for a lobster dinner, which was grilled and delicious! A band was playing at The Fig Tree, so we had a fun time dancing. Some of the locals joined us. It was a great last night in Bequia.
