Puerto Vallarta 11/3/16

Ocean Grill was our destination today. We met Kathe and Jorgen and headed to the bus stop to catch the Boca de Tomatlan bus. It is a crazy and beautiful 30 minute ride south of PV. The bus seemed to be on two wheels at some points! We proceed to the Boca pier where the Ocean Grill panga picks us up.

You can only get to this restaurant on a cliff in the jungle by panga or hiking from Boca. We began coming to this gorgeous restaurant when Alfonso first opened it and we come every year.

Jorgen orders ribs and the resident Great Dane, Wilson, has his eyes on the meal, but he is very well behaved.

Rick and Jorgen worked hard to fix Rick's sunglasses. Without a safety pin, paper clip or wire, they were trying to attach the two parts with a piece of plastic fiber supplied by the waiter. Did not work

After a wonderful meal with spectacular views, we head down to Los Colomitos beach. A tour boat has landed at our tiny beach so we share our spot with a bunch of people for a bit. The nice thing is that they tour operators offer us a Corona beer and they also let Rick and me pepper with their beach volleyball.

This family knows how to enjoy the day!

Puerto Vallarta 11/2/16

Casa Kimberly called our name again. We dined there last week and were surprised when La Joya de Mexico showed unto serenade the owner for her birthday. Tonight we know they will play beginning at 6:45, so we are there. We just sit at the La Iguana bar since we can't afford dinner at Casa Kimberly twice. It was a wonderful show for the price of a drink. Only one couple was in the restaurant area. The mariachis came to us to sing and said, "We are all yours." Awesome!

After our mariachi fix, we worked our way down the very steep cobblestone streets of Gringo Gulch to the Malecon. Dinner was an interesting concoction at Mi Querencia. It was a fajita-like presentation of beef, chicken, fried hot dogs!, grilled onion and peppers, guacamole, the local cheese made in El Tuito, a caldron of melted cheese and salsa. It was a ton of food. we have leftovers for dinner tomorrow. It was the last game of the World Series, so we got to watch the game. Go Cubbies!

We walked the Malecon and viewed many altars to departed family members. I have come to love this Mexican Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. Families set up altars for their loved ones with pictures, mementos and even favorite clothing. It is such a positive way to remember those who have left.

Puerto Vallarta 11/1/16

Today is Shot Day. We took a cab down to the hospital near the marina where we met Dr. Marquez. Rick received his first rabies shot.

We were back at Lindo Mar in time for an afternoon reading and snorkeling. Dinner there, too.

Puerto Vallarta 10/31/16

We spent the better part of the day going to the Vallarta Medical Center. Rick has a wound with to "points of entry" that seem to be a bat bite. A very dedicated American nurse that works down here in PV set up a meeting with Dr. Fernando Marquez, an ER doctor at the hospital. She said he has seen it all and is very talented plus bilingual. He looked at the wound and consulted with a rabies expert. They both agreed that the rabies shots were in order as a precaution. We wondered if they thought it odd that someone was coming in for a bat bite on Halloween!

Towards evening we went to Kathe and Jorgen's timeshare at WIVC Conchas Chinas for a look t their beautiful view before heading out for Halloween at Cafe Bohemio. We have been going to Bohemio for Halloween for years. Solomon (Sol) and his partner Chris are the owners. Such nice people! Sol is a cut up. Always makes you laugh. They get a big crowd for dinner and we stay for the whole night.

The kids of PV come though the restaurant in their costumes. They used to say "Queremos Halloween" in a cute sing song way. No they say "Happy Halloween". Never "Trick or Treat. it is always so much fun to pass out pencils. They love them. This year we took 450 pencils and 350 spider rings. Sold out!

Puerto Vallarta 10/30/16

Bronco Sunday! We headed to El Torito, our favorite spot to watch NFL games. 

Low and behold, who did we run into again, but Rebecca and Mark - George Melvin's friends from Sprucewood, CO. They were sitting right behind us. Nice to see them again.

Pretty soon the gal next to us asked, "Are you Ruth?" It was Rosie ad her husband Bill. Rosie is Connie Stewart's best friend. Small world! We took a group photo and Rebecca photoshopped George in on Facebook.

Puerto Vallarta 10/29/16

Today was moving day. We have to leave our beautiful Vista del Sol condo for another lovely spot - Lindo Mar, a timeshare just a bit south of town. We adore Lindo Mar. It has its own little private beach with rocky coves good for snorkeling. La Playita, the restaurant here, is very good, too. We got settled into #605 and hung out a little at the beach. Dinner was shred fajitas from La Playita.
