Puerto Vallarta 10/28/16

Puerto Vallarta is gearing up for Dia de los Muertos in early November. Views from our walk to the grocery store this morning.

The palapas are coming out for high season at the Sea Monkey.

We saw these huge "bones" being transported around town earlier in the week.

Now we know where they were headed!

Tonight we attended the Concierge Festival at Oscars on the Cuale River and the each. Beautiful location! This is a charity event that we bought tickets for. There were hundreds attending and we estimated 99% Mexicans, so we Gringos were lucky to be invited! Thank Marshall! The best restaurants in PV provide food offerings and the wine is free flowing all night.

We attended with our friends Kathe and Jorgen, their daughter Charlotte and son in law Kim and Kim's mother, Doris.

Doris was the only winner in the auction from our table. She won a great prize - 2 tickets from Vallarta Adventures for their Extreme Adventure (zip lining, repelling a waterfall and other fun stuff). Lucky Kim and Charlotte get to use it when they come in December!

There was a wonderful Catrina and Catrin choir that preformed a haunting song while a Catrina marched in a zombie-like fashion around them. It was really good. They put a lot of effort into it with their make up and singing!

The outdoor setting was beautiful and it got quite crowded. There were alters and Catrina displays, too.

Puerto Vallarta 10/27/16

We had dinner at the spectacular Casa Kimberly, the former home of Liz Taylor. 

Richard Burton owned the home across the street and they built a bridge (Lovers' Bridge) to connect the two. 

We went to the lovely restaurant knowing that the 15 piece mariachi band, La Joya de Mexico, would not be playing until November. But, lucky us. The waiter whispered that there would be a surprise visit by the group for the owner's birthday dinner. Janet Chatterton was seated two tables away, so we had a great seat. I asked the waiter if I could request my favorite song, Maleguena Solerosa, and he said there were no requests since it was a special event for the owner. Later the mariachis came to a few tables to sing and guess what they chose for us? Maleguena Solerosa. It was perfect!

Puerto Vallarta 10/26/16

Today I had a $15 wonderful massage. Gotta love this town!

After lunch we took a walk north on the Malecon - in the heat of the day - what were we thinking? I found a little family to give some Beanie Babies to. The little one was shy.

We walked to the Rosarita Hotel at the north end of the Malecon. One the way home we walked on the ocean side. Such neat art work there. Puerto Vallarta has done a wonderful job investing in interesting pieces!

For dinner we went to Cafe Bohemia for Sol's opening night. They spend the summers in Palm Springs and return for high season in PV. We had his special - carne arrechera. Very good. We met a sweet little lady-like chihuahua.

After dinner we went to Andales for a little bit. Crazy place!

Puerto Vallarta 10/25/16

Today our Danish friends (who reside in Chiliwack near Vancouver, BC) came by Vista del Sol to say hello. We really look forward to spending time with Kathe and Jorgan. This year their daughter, son in law and his mother are with them, so we had a fun crew for lunch at the Sea Monkey.

We ran into Dawn and Scott who we met at Rivera del Rio while they were having lunch with their toes int he sand at Sea Monkey.

As we were headed out to scout a place for dinner, the skies opened up and we had a real drenching and long lasting rain. We took shelter in an alcove for about 15 minutes, but it did not let up, so se made a run for Daiquiri Dick's, the closest restaurant. I have always wanted to try the whole red snapper there. They have a unique way of cooking on an iron spit. It was delicious!

Los Bambinos (The Babies) were playing at Daiquiri Dicks. They are wonderful! Bought a CD.

After dinner we took a walk down the beach and stopped at La Palapa to listen to the band. Usually we hear Bobby and Gilberto, but tonight a self-professed unnamed trio was playing some romantic music. As we were leaving the waiter came outside and told us that the singer was the owner of La Palapa. Kind of cool.

We found a neat little "living room" kind of like the one they have in Buena Vista, Colorado. Very clever!
